DANDENONG SECONDARY COLLEGE – STAGE 3

Dandenong

This overall development is part of the Victorian government school regeneration program with the amalgamation of three existing schools into one new campus with over 2000 students. The project comprised construction of a Performing Arts/Sports building on the Ann Street campus and refurbishment of the existing Senior Science wing on the adjacent main campus site.

The Performing Arts Sports complex comprises of a double court and gymnasium, performing arts facilities for dance, drama and music with a 450-seat theatre. The performing arts facilities included four music rooms, drama studio and equipment storage. The building is a steel portal framed structure with metal cladding and floating sprung timber floor.

The refurbishment of the Senior Science building included internal demolition and the removal of asbestos in ceilings, walls and flooring. The refurbishment and fit-out of the senior science wing required the reticulation of new laboratory services, installation of fume cupboards and emergency eye wash and shower facilities.

Early works included the demolition and removal of five buildings and a car park to enable construction of the new complex.
