Redevelopment of an at grade public car park into a community plaza with ground level retail tenancies that will incorporate shops, cafes, restaurants and a four level above ground car park for 127 vehicles.
The development will activate the under utilised public precinct by providing active tenancies, passive recreation space at ground level whilst increasing car parking. The precinct development includes various artwork relating to the local Vietnamese community together with a Welcome Arch.
The fabrication and installation of the Welcome Arch required Devco to develop a construction/fabrication methodology, including materials, constructability, installation and design management ensuring design integrity for the arch sculpture is maintained.
The project scope included:
- Staged reconfiguration and re-work of Byron Street and the service lane adjacent to the site including diversion of sewer and stormwater services.
- Construction a new four-level car park with 8 retail tenancies at ground level.
- Construction of a separate pavilion/retail tenancy within the plaza space. Design management and construction of the Welcome Arch sculpture.
